(1) Physical Fitness
One should be physically fit before doing any trekking and mountaineering. It is a long hike so without any training the first two/three days will be tough for you. So some basic physical fitness like squatting, Mountain climbers ( which can be done at home), running, biking, stair climbing, and swimming will help a lot to do trekking in the mountains, so it is highly recommended 2/3 months before you depart for the trekking or mountaineering.
(2)Foods and Drinks
While in the mountains, it is highly recommended you drink plenty of fluids like water, soups, and teas as well as food. We will provide sufficient and hygienic food as per your choice for the whole trek. However, some private snacks such as chocolate bars, and cookies are also highly recommended which you can take from Kathmandu or you can buy on the way in lodges or in shops.
(3)Drinking water
One should drink at least 3-4 liters of water every day to get hydrated the body which helps a lot to be away from altitude sickness. Although bottled waters are not highly recommended as well as we are environmentally sensitive. But in the Annapurna region, bottled mineral water is not in. We highly recommend you carry a reusable water bottle and buy boiled water in lodges/teahouses which also makes your sleeping bag very warm while going to bed, use serpin or take chlorine or iodine tablets to purify the drinking water and there is a facility of filtered water on the way for Rs 50 Per liter ( equivalent to 50 Cents).
(4)Best time to Travel
Spring ( Mar-May)and Autumn ( Sep- Nov) are known as the best months to trek in Nepal because of the stable clear dry skies that permit you to enjoy the spectacular mountain views but most lodges, hotels, and trails are busy and crowded. Spring season is pleasant and suitable with warm temperatures for trekking and climbing the big mountains as well. At this time for every mountain, there will be groups to climb and conquer the summits. Until the end of October, the temperature will be mild and cold. Weather will be stable with a clear blue sky, dry at the same time you will get the chance to experience the many Hindu festivals like Dashain and Tihar. In spring the rhododendron forest covers the whole area in the Annapurna basecamp and Gorepani area. Winter and summer are also good if you would prefer less crowdy, and ready to face some challenges like snow, cold, and rain. Even in winter weather will always be clear but these three months are the coldest months of the year and sometimes snow falls. In Summer, It is very good to go trekking, the temperature will be warm, those who are keen to botanist, summer is the best but due to unstable weather the views of mountains are very rare.
5) Altitude Sickness
Trekking in Annapurna Basecamp is one of the most popular trekking in the world. In high altitudes, the mass of oxygen will be less, so everyone finds it difficult to breathe as well as mild headache, dizziness, etc. This is one of the biggest challenges in the mountains. In the altitude, there are many rules to make our body adaptable to the altitude. Acclimatization is one of the important factors to adjust our body to get used to the altitude. All our itineraries are designed with proper acclimatization. The most important rules that we have to follow in altitude are walking slowly, and drinking plenty of fluids as water, soups, etc to keep our body hydrated and keep our body warm. Our staff and guide will always do their best as they can, even though in case of any sickness or injury one should avoid their rest trip and should come down.
(6)Travel Insurance
It is compulsory to buy the proper travel insurance policy with a genuine insurance company, it should cover the emergency helicopter evacuation as well as medical treatment in case of severe injury or sickness and the Policy should include coverage at altitudes up to 5000 Mtr if you are doing just trekking and if you are doing mountaineering should be 6500 Mtr.
(7)Bag pack and duffel bag
Our duffel bag should be a maximum of 15kg including the handbag. Only the necessary things should be packed and the stuff that is not necessary on the trek will be stored in a hotel in Kathmandu. One porter will carry a max of 30 Kg, among two clients one porter will be provided.
(8)Internet Connectivity and cell phone Signal
Upon your arrival at Kathmandu airport, there you can buy a Nepalese SIM card cell or you can buy it anywhere around the city. In the Annapurna region, cell signal works for phone calls as well as internet connectivity in some parts of places. But there is well facility internet wifi in every teahouse or lodge so You can enjoy social media or connect with your family, friends, or loved one.
(9)Flight/ Road to Pokhara
Pokhara is the entry gateway to trekking to the Annapurna Basecamp region. There is a regular flight to Pokhara from Kathmandu daily which is much more comfortable and easy. It takes only 35 minutes to get to Pokhara. On the other way, there is a highway connecting Kathmandu and Pokhara, it is pleasant but takes a minimum of 6-7 hours to get to Pokhara from Kathmandu.
(10)Sanitation
In most places, toilets are common, and need to use the same toilet is used by everyone else. In most places there may not be available hand washing water, so highly recommend taking hand sanitizer by yourself, and most importantly toilet paper or wet tissue paper should always be in your day bag.
(11)TIMS and Conservation Area permit
To enter in Annapurna region you have to buy the Annapurna Conservation Area Project (ACAP) entry permit and TIMS permit, the cost will be included in the trip cost. Your guide will manage everything. For that, you have to provide 2 passport-sized photos.
(12)Guiding and staffing
In the Annapurna region, average walk per day is 6-7 hours. Leisurely and pleasant guidance will take you to your destination. The more you gain altitude more hard to walk. Your experienced guide and porter will always be there to help you in every moment. The guide is the key factor for every challenge in the mountain so one should follow the instructions of the guide pleasantly. Every day after dinner your guide will do a brief about the next day's trip.
(13) Budgeting
Budgeting depends upon many factors, especially in Kathmandu where there are too many choices. Hotels in Kathmandu are included in the trip cost based on the BB plan. So average expenses per day in Kathmandu will be Rs 2000 for lunch and Dinner, if you prefer some other activities as drinks, to do massage, or to go in bar/pub Rs 5000 ( equivalent to USD 50 ) is enough. On the trek, all the meals and hot drinks will be provided by the company, Extra expenses such as Hot shower, battery charging, wifi, boiled water for bottles, extra snack bars, Soft drinks, and hard drinks should borne by oneself, In average Rs 2000(equivalent to 20 USD) is enough. Finally, a few tipping points are highly recommended and compulsory on the last day to your guide and porter as per your budgeting.
