Trip Overview

The Druk which is also called "Duk" or "Dug" literally stands for Dragon Thunder according to Bhutanese mythology. The Druk Path Trek is beautiful and distinct. It is an ancient trail that passes through the main towns of Bhutan Paro and Thimphu. This journey gives a fascinating experience to explore the typical Bhutanese Culture and the Thunder Dragon Kingdom. 
This trekking occasion enables one to observe the famous soaring Taktsang Monastery which is also known as the Tigers’ Nest. The Nest is beautifully decorated with bright-colored prayer flags. The spirituality of Bhutan, its unique culture, and its architecture are miraculous.
The Druk path journey officially begins from the Paro Valley. The trails guide you to the tremendous route via the virgin forest, yak pastures, and magnificent high ridges. The cultural interest, sacred mountains lake, hunted monastery, and traditional settlement fill the excitement and curiosity of the journey. We trek over 3000 meters each day and reach Simkota 4210 meters before reaching the capital city of Bhutan “Thimphu”. Our journey becomes memorable and enjoyable with the panoramic views of Snow-clad Himalayas peaks.
As we start our journey, we come across a spectacular rhododendron forest, apple orchards, and fortress, JeleDzong. The magnificent view of Mt. Jumolhari (7,326 m) is breathtaking. We cross over Phume La (4210 m) and have a magnificent view of Mt. Jomolhari (7,326 m) Jitchu Drake (6,662 m), and Gangkar Puensum (7,570 m).
 
The best time to travel the Druk path is February to May and September to December. The trekking difficulty range is moderate. Travelers with good health and physical condition can conquer this journey. Normally, we recommend that people above 12 years of age with the support and guidance of an adult commence this journey. The maximum elevation of this trek is 4235m.

Trip Itinerary

Day 1

Our tour guide receives you and transfers you to the hotel. On the way, a short description of the program. Late afternoon we visit Kathmandu's nearby areas like Basantapur and enjoy our evening at Thamel.

Day 2

We take flight to Paro (2,250m/ 7,382 ft.). We have a fantastic view of Mt. Everest and others from an airplane. After reaching Bhutan, we moved to the hotel.
At mid-day, we visit DzongDrakha. It is a magnificent cluster of the 16th century. We also sightsee Queen Mother’s winter palace. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 3

We head towards the famous Tigers’ Nest, Taktsang Monastery. The monastery lies on a cliff. It is believed that Legendary Indian Saint, Guru Padma Sambhava defeated five demons riding on the tiger's back. After that, we reach the tea house an ascent of 340m/ 1,125 ft. for refreshment which is the prime viewpoint of Taktsang. 
After sightseeing and relaxation at Taktsang, we move for the visit to KyichuLakhang. It is an ancient temple built by SongtsenGampo, an early Tibetan King.

Day 4

The trail links Thimpu valley with Paro and is close to the Indian border. We can also ride a horse from Paro and reach Bhutan's capital. We march right to the ridgeline of the Himalayan foothills. We explore the highly cultivated Paro Valley, monastery, fortress, and the Queen Mother’s Winter Palace. Our trail has the bucket list of pine, bamboo, and rhododendron forest. The highly decorated mani walls and rich flora and fauna fully help us to mesmerize our day.
Overnight at the camp a few hundred feet below JiliDzong, clearing.
 

Day 5

We explore the huge statue of Padma Sambhava at Dzong. The monastery is supposedly hunted and recent innovation has been made to use it again. We further sightsee Mt. Chomolhari (7,314 m/ 23,997 ft.). We descend to the forest of rhododendrons and meet local yak herdsmen. From here, we sightsee another large peak Kangcheeta. People trust Mt. Kangcheeta to be the brother of the female mountain goddess Chomolhari. The Tshomphu monastery holds the ancient history and cultural importance of Tibet.

Day 6

We ascend from the camp with a beautiful sight of the mountains. We hike up until we reach Sterling Lake Jimi Langtsho Lake. The lake is very beautiful and unspoiled with a large chorten. The area is surrounded by beautiful rhododendrons. After the exploration of Jimi Langtsho Lake, we proceeded the explore another lake Jana Tsho which is magical. Overnight at camp.

Day 6

We ascend from the camp with a beautiful sight of the mountains. We hike up until we reach Sterling Lake Jimi Langtsho Lake. The lake is very beautiful and unspoiled with a large chorten. The area is surrounded by beautiful rhododendrons. After the exploration of Jimi Langtsho Lake, we proceeded the explore another lake Jana Tsho which is magical. Overnight at camp.

Day 7

We walk over the highest pass Simkota la ( Phume La) ( 4,210m/ 13,812 ft.). DungkarTsho is the collective lake that has a strong spiritual presence and is also the major attraction of today's excursion. We may encounter monks headed to visit Jimi Langtsho. We explore this region, take a rest, and make our zigzag way to Phadjoding. Phadjoding is a highly valued meditation center and just behind Phadjoding, there is a famous hermit temple constructed a century ago. Overnight at camp.

Day 8

We walk for around 2-3 hours to reach the road crossing over the steep trail, and forest. A clear sky gives us opportunities to view the gigantic peak of Mt. GangkarPusung (7,550/ 24, 770 ft.) which is the highest unclimbed mountain in the world. After reaching to Thimpu, we visit principal sights like the Late Kings’ Memorial Chorten, the Gaint Buddha Statue, or the Textile Museum.

Day 9

We explore the remaining sights like an herbal medicine hospital, the Changangkha Lhakhang, and the School of Painting. We leave Thimpu via Dochu La Pass (3,140 m/ 10, 302 ft.). Simultaneously, if the sky is clear we sightsee the Mt. GangkarPunsum (7,550m/ 24, 770 ft.).
We head down the forest to reach Punakha Valley for about three hours. Overnight we visit Drukpa Kunleys’ Temple. Infertile women visit this temple to pray for their children.Overnight at the resort.

Day 10

A short drive to Punakha to visit Punakha Dzong. It is the most respected sight and a power base for the previous system of reincarnating rulers. Punakha Dzong has the remains of the ruler of Bhutan NawangNamgyal and only the king and the head of the Monastic order are allowed to enter the room. After we complete exploring Dzong we head for Paro.

Day 11

We catch a flight to Kathmandu. In Kathmandu, we explore remaining World Heritage sites like Pashupatinath, Syambhunathn, Bouddhanath, and others. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 12

We take you to Tribhuwan International Airport. We expect to meet again and explore the remaining regions.
