NMA peaks Permit fees of Nepal

Royalty for Foreign Climbers on Per Person basis in US Dollar (US$)

There are 27 peaks regulated by the Nepal Mountaineering Association (NMA). A total of 33 Peak Permits were managed by NMA until the new regulation came in effect. Hence the NMA regulated peaks are termed as ‘Trekking Peaks’. The title may suggest that these peaks are easier to climb than expedition peaks, but this is not necessarily true and they are technically very demanding. Trekking Peaks actually provide a chance to climb in some of the most remote and unseen areas of Nepal. Climbing these peaks can also be technical and challenging. In fact, the permit fee of NMA peaks vary according to the season and number of climbers in a group.

However, as per the decision made by Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, mountains with the altitude less than 5,800 meters to be promoted as trekking peaks and royalty fee has been waived for those peaks. Therefore the following Six peaks permitted by NMA are made free of royalty fee:

  • Yala Peak (5,732m)
  • Chhukung Ri (5,550m)
  • Tharpu Chuli/Tent Peak (5,663m)
  • Mardi Himal (5,587m)
  • Machhermo (5,559m)
  • Pokhalde (5,780m)
