Overview

The Everest Base Camp trek on the south side is most iconic basecamp of all, standout amongst the most well known trekking trail  in the himalayas  and is gone by many trekkers every year at the foot of the greatest mountain of  the world. Walking all the way through sherpa country and small village, we  have enough time to get acclimaitzed before  reaching our final destination in spectacular high altitude scenery.Trekkers usually fly from Kathmandu to Lukla  with spectacular views  of mountains  along the northern himalayan range . Mt. Everest 8848mtr,the world’s highest mountain attracts trekkers from around the world. Following with spectacular view of Mt Amadablam(6812 Mtr) “mother with a jewel box”, and icredible Tyangboche Monastery  and view of Everest from Tyangboche  take us to make excitement towards Everest base Camp as well as we have the opportunity to climb Kalapattar (5545 Mtr) for magnificent  scenery of the highest mountain of  Earth.

Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Kathmandu and transfer to hotel


   Our airport representative  with name board will come to pick up in airport. The tour starts at our hotel in Kathmandu. There will be a full trek briefing this evening and welcome dinner in typical nepali restaurant with nepali cultural dances.
 

Day 2: Sightseeing in Kathamndu


   After the breakfast our city tour guide with luxury vehicle will come to pick you up for the city sightseeing of some UNESCO world heritage sites for  half day.After that your free time for leisure and preparation for the trek.( Exchanging the money,shopping, gear check etc)
 

Day 3: Flight to Lukla (2840 Mtr/9315 Ft )and Trek to Phakding 2610 Mtr/8560 Ft)


  We fly to the mountain airstrip of Lukla (2,800m) with beautiful views of Himalayan ranges if the weather permited.and start the first day trek with full of energy and enthusiasm.Heading northwards up the valley of the Dudh Kosi (or 'milk river'). The place where we going to stay tonight is lower than the airport we landed.We descend from the small plateau, down into the forested valley. The trail offers some tantalising views before reaching the small settlement of Phakding (2,652m), where we spend our first night. 
 

Day 4: Trek to Namche (3440 Mtr/11283 Ft)


    Heading towards the Namche,  we follow the Dudh Kosi northwards.Todays walk takes us  along the river through forest with some views of mountains as well until lunch. We cross the river several times by bridges as we pass through the villages of Benkar, Monzo and Jorsale.Jorsale Last point before Namche where we have lunch.There is the check point of Sagaramatha national park,from that point the SNP area begins. A final bridge brings us to the steep climb to Namche. Halfway up this ascent, if weather permited we get the chance to see the summit of Mount  everest hiding behind Lhotse and Nuptse. After steep climb of 2 hours and ascents of 300 mtr climbing brings us to Namche. Namche is the main gateway of mount Everest and it  is the  trading center  of Khumbu.It has weekly market on friday afternoon and saturday Morning but the shops,supermarkets,trekking shops,Bakeries are open for all day and everyday.
 

Day 5: Trek to Khumjung (3790 Mtr/12431 Ft )via Khunde 3840 Mtr/12595 Ft


   Khumjung and Khunde are the twin villages knowing with green valley located in lap of Khumbila,rocky mountain known  as khumbu county diety which is sacred.We climb steeply out of Namche past the airstrip at Shyangboche to the Hilary viewpoint in Khunde height of approx 4100 Mtr,From where most spectacular view of Mount Amadablam,Thamserku,Khangteka etc. can be seen. Descending through forest we come to Khunde, where we have lunch,visit the Khunde Monastery and Edmund Hillary hospital.After lunch, we walk down to Khumjung where we spent our night there,and we visit khumjung  Monastery to see the Yeti's Skull and the Hillary school. Khumjung Monastery is one of the oldest monastery of Khumbu, it was badly destroyed by recent earthquake but is now being constructed

Day 6: Trek to Phortse (3840 Mtr/12595 Ft)


   The place where we going is not that difference in elevation than last night. We walk all the way down crossing all the villages passing small rivers and begin climbing to Mong La (Ridge),marked by chorten on the top of a ridge.From Mongla, the trail goes down about 400 Mtr towards Phortse Thanga, near to Dudh Koshi river.From Phortse Tenga the trail starts to climb steeply towards east entering the rhododendron  and birch forest. Climbing of about one hour takes us to Phortse village where we have magnificent views of Mount Kongde,Thamserku and Khangteka. Phortse is one of the oldest village of khumbu known by  village of everest summiter where each house has at least one everest summiter.We can visit to Khumbu Climbing center, Phortse Monastery in phortse.
 

Day 7: Trek to Dingboche(4410 Mtr/14465 Ft)


   We ascend about 40 minutes in pasture, then the trails goes up and down in the steep hill.Tyangboche monastery can be seen in the opposite where we visit one the way back. Spending 1.5 hours with enjoying majestic views of mountains takes us to village name pangboche,(3900 Mt),the highest permanent settlement in this valley,crossing the village and ascending ,we have lunch at Shomare,after which the tree line is over. Now we walk all way in pasture,crossing the small bridge of river flowing from Khumbu glacier and steep climb brings us to Dingboche (4410 Meter).Dingboche is the only place which is closed in summer for 2 months and only the place in khumbu of harvesting barley

Day 8: Rest Day in Dingboche (4410 Mtr) and hike to Ngangkarsang Peak


   We spend another day in Dingboche for acclimatization. We climb up to Ngangkarsang Peak (5083 Meter) to be adjust well in altitude and great views of Mount Makalu,Cholatse,Taboche,Amadablam and so on.We come down for lunch , today going to be late lunch, so recomanded to carry some snacks bar.After lunch free time to relax,Showers and coffee with cakes.
 

Day 9: Trek to Lobuche (4930 Mtr/16170 Ft)


    Two more days to get to Everest basecamp,coming two days going to be bit tougher  than as usual.The track climbs steeply up  along the arid terrace is awarding with awesome views of mountains on all sides and ascends the valley gradually to Dugla at the end of the moraine of Khumbu Glacier.Where we have lunch before steep climb up to Memorial place,where there is line of memorial in tribute to the climbers who have died in Everest.As we come to a yak herder's place called Dusa, the valley begins to narrow and we continue through Phulung Kharka  the camp sites during first successful Everest Expedition in 1953.Continue walk along the Khumbu glacier from left side of 1 more hour with infront views of Mount Khumbutse,Lingtren,Pumori brings us to Lobuche (4910 Meter). In afternoon we have options to climb up to 5000 Mtr to see khumbu glacier.
 

Day 10: Trek to Gorakshep (5140 Mtr/16860 Ft )and day trip to Everest basecamp 5365 Mtr/17597 Ft)


   Today is the longest and hardest day of the trip and going to reach in our final destination. We leave quite early along the Khumbu Glacier in right side. After one hour walk of gradual , we climb steep for 20 Minutes and trail  follows up and down in moraine and some steep sections all the way to Gorakshep (5185 Meter).Where we have quick lunch and with some snakes bar ,enough water , we hit for the basecamp for another 2.5 hours walk to basecamp.Climb onto a moraine of khumbu glacier, Continuing straight ahead up an down walk in 3 hours bring us in Everest basecamp.In Spring season, Everest basecamp can be seen as small tented city,but in rest season, we can rarely see some expedition group to Everest or Lhotse.We spend here for photo click with basecamp rock and ice, enjoying the view of Khumbu Ice fall then we move our steps to Gorakshep.
 

Day 11: To kalapathar(5545 Mtr/18187 Ft and trek to Pheriche(4240 Mtr/13907 Ft)


   We still have another hard day for the best view of Mount everest from Kalapathar ( Means Black Rock ),as we climb steeply quite early with cup of tea and biscuits,after climbing of 2 hours from Gorakshep we reach in the summit of Kalapathar,We spent short time to take pictures of world highest mountains and khumbu glacier,then we return to Gorakshep for breakfast and step towards Lobuche for lunch then continue walk down to Pheriche for the night.
 

Day 12: Trek to Tyangboche(3860 Mtr/12660 Ft)


   Descending from Pheriche, we cross a small bridge and short ascend before descend down the valley. Trail follows Imja Khola all the way down until the suspension bridge in Deboche entering in thick Rhododendron and fir forest. From Deboche it takes 40 minutes to get to Tyangboche for the lunch.After lunch we visit to Monastery.
 

Day 13: Trek to Namche(3440 Mtr/11283 Ft)


   We descend off the ridge to Phunki Tenga about one hour and steep climb up to Kyanjuma about 1.5 an hour, with cup of tea in Kyanjuma , the trail goes straight in steep hill  until Namche bazaar. We go  directly to Namche for lunch and after lunch free time for shopping, roaming out in coffee shop, and in bakery.
 

Day 14: Trek to Lukla( 2840 Mtr/9315 Ft)


   Long day walk before flying back to Kathmandu. it takes about 7 hours to get to Lukla from Namche.We are following the same trail that we took on the way up from Lukla, but the views are completely different.The trail descends steeply downward so should be careful with slow walking. After crossing the suspension bridges over Dudh Koshi,the trails becomes more easy and natural.We follow the trails along the Dudh kosi river with  rhododendrons and pine forest.Upon arrival in Lukla, sharing the happy moments and great experience with staffs,dinner together and happy note with everyone back safe and sound.
 

Day 15: Flight to Kathmandu and transfer to hotel


   Today we have a early breakfast in order to catch the flights,sometimes weather doesn’t permits, should be patient for the waiting. It takes about 30 minutes to get to Kathmandu.
 

Day 16: Free time in Kathmandu for shopping


    Trip is over now, you can take your own time for shoppinp,sightseeing and relaxing.Thamel area is full of shops and restaurants and coffee shops for those who want a more relaxing day.We will have the farewell dinner in typical  Nepali restaurant  with nepali cultural music and dances to celebrate the successful completion of our journey.
 

Day 17: Departure for homeland


    You will be transfer to Airport as your schedule flight.

What permit do I need for the Everest basecamp trek?
For trekking in the Everest Region, you need the following permits:

Local  Governments Entry fee instead of TIMS ( Trekking information management system):The local government is charging Rs 2000 per person in Lukla in the entrance of Everest Basecamp Trek.

Sagarmatha National Park Entry Permit: To entry in  the Sagarmatha National Park,One has to obtain the permit which cost Rs 3000+ government tax per head. the park that is home to the Mount Everest Region, you need to obtain an entry permit.
How safe is Everest basecamp trek?
Safety is our first concern. As we provide the experienced guides and leaders for the  particular trip who are well trained about the high altitude sickness, first aid ,friendly attitude and ability to provide useful and  important instructions. All our itineraries are designed  with proper acclimatization days in order to reduce the risk of altitude sickness. In every group we provide the first aid kit bag incase of any injury and emergency.
 
How is the lodging and fooding facilities in EBC trek?
Along the trail to Everest basecamp, there are  well facilited lodges are available with various types of foods.
What about the flight from Kathmandu-Lukla and vice versa?
Just about 25 minutes flight from Kathmandu  takes us to Tenzing Hillary airstrip in Lukla  but the due to some circumstances, these days the flight to Lukla are operated from Ramechap, which is 4 hours drive from Kathmandu and 15 min by flight to lukla. There are options to fly by helicopter directly from Kathmandu to Lukla as well, which is bit expensive than  regular flight. Sometimes the weather doesn’t permits for the regular flight, then we should be compulsion to hire the helicopter.
